30 hours of training per week, Tuesday to Saturday
Unlimited access to all after-school classes, included at no extra cost
Opportunity to complete an ATOD Certificate III or IV qualification
Dancers in the Full Time Program receive dedicated coaching in ballet and contemporary technique, along with one-on-one mentoring and regular performance opportunities. Private coaching is built into the program, helping students develop their solo work and prepare for auditions, competitions, or the stage.
NBT holds an annual classical ballet production, which is a highlight of the year for our full-time dancers. Recent productions include Cinderella, Swan Lake Act II, The Nutcracker, Paquita, and The Wizard of Oz.
Academic studies can continue through Distance Education or Home Schooling, arranged by families. We provide time and space within the training day to support this if needed.
If you're a dancer who lives and breathes ballet (and contemporary), and you’re looking for a professional pathway with real, focused support, this is the program for you.

Auditions 2026
Auditions for Newcastle Ballet Theatre’s Pre-Professional Programs are open!
At NBT, we feel strongly that dancers learn and improve in environments where they are comfortable and supported, yet challenged. Our focus is on understanding each dancer’s goals, then helping them reach their particular and individual potential.
Our Programs are ballet based, with a strong Contemporary component, so those genres are the focus of our audition process.
-
We are happy to have dancers audition in person at our studios in Cardiff, NSW - participating in an Open Ballet class, followed by pointe work. You may also be asked to demonstrate Contemporary technique.
-
Please provide video of;
BARRE - Plies, Battement Tendu & Battement Glisse, Adage, Grand Battement
CENTRE - Battement Tendu & Pirouette, Short Adage, Petit Allegro, Grand Allegro
+ Short Contemporary Sequence (Maximum 3 minutes) OR
1 Classical Solo / Variation (Clear, Enpointe, & recent t) & 1 Contemporary Solo (clear & recent) -
We also understand that finding studio time to film can be tricky. With that in mind, those looking to audition via video may also send footage from a recent (within a few months) Classical solo and Contemporary (or Lyrical) solo.

See them in action
Experience the grace and passion of our dedicated full-time dancers as they showcase their talent and skill in every mesmerising performance.
Part Time Program
Our Part Time Program is ideal for intermediate and advanced dancers who want more intensive training, but aren’t quite ready or able to commit to a full-time schedule. It’s also a great stepping stone into full-time training.
2½ days per week
Includes a half day of training, a full day integrated with the Full Time Program, and Saturdays with our Senior Level
Open to dancers regardless of school year, academic school, or studio affiliation
Option to complete an ATOD qualification (Certificate III or IV)
This program runs in conjunction with academic school schedules. If your school needs information or assistance around the structure and flexibility of the program, we’re happy to speak with them directly.
Part-time dancers are supported within our Pre-Professional structure and benefit from the same quality of training and access to performance opportunities.
If you're looking to level up your training, experience what full-time life is like, or work toward a qualification, this is an excellent pathway.
